Tanushree Dutta has opened the floodgates in India when she spoke out against the sexual harassment she faced at hands of actor Nana Patekar.

Taking courage from her many other women in India have also started to speak up against the sexual harassment they faced at the hands of celebrities. Names such as Vikas Bahl, Rajat Kapoor, Alok Nath, Chetan Bhagat etc have come to limelight. The latest person to join the list is singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya.

The singer  has been accused by a flight attendant of sexually harassing her in 1998. She narrated the details through a post on social media. She shared that Abhijeet was a friend of her roommate. She alleged that Abhijeet Bhattacharya grabbed her by her wrist and pulled her closer after she refused to dance with him. She further writes that angered by her behaviour, Abhijeet screamed in her ear, “B***h, what do you think of yourself, wait till I teach you a lesson,” before almost kissing and nibbling her ear.

Indian Express reached out to Abhijeet with regards to the allegations levelled against him. He dismissed the allegations and said that he wasn’t even born 20 years ago. Abhijeet has been earlier accused by many women of harassment.

“Somebody told me over the call. I was not born at that time. I have never gone to pubs in my life. You’ll never find me at any page 3 or filmy parties. My name sells. If someone’s benefiting from it, good. Sometimes earning their bread and butter with my name, it’s fine,” Abhijeet said.

“I don’t know against whom should I take action. Why should I give attention to that person? You are giving it importance not me. Most of the people who are coming out right now are dirty, ugly people. Koi mota hai koi patla hai. No one deserves (the attention). Just to grab some attention they are coming out. Most of the fat and ugly girls are blaming and I wasn’t born at that time,” Abhijeet added.

This isn’t the first time that women have spoken out against Abhijeet’s behaviour.
