Actress Priyanka Chopra walking out of Salman Khan’s ‘Bharat’ created quite a stir. The actress, who is good friend of the movie’s directed Ali Abbas Zafar, had landed the lead role in the movie. But Priyanka walked out of the project just 10 days before she was supposed to begin shooting, citing her wedding as the reason for the same.
Director Ali Abbas Zafar took to his twitter handle to announce the news of PC quitting Bharat. He wrote, “Yes Priyanka Chopra is no more part of @Bharat_TheFilm & and the reason is very very special, she told us in the Nick of time about her decision and we are very happy for her ... Team Bharat wishes @priyankachopra loads of love & happiness for life.”
In an interview with Filmfare, Ali was asked about his tweet.
“Well, well, well… there were a lot of things that she was busy with. But I’m not gonna say anything more about my ‘nick in time’ comment on Twitter. We all know the reality and the truth of the situation. As I’ve always maintained, we, as team Bharat, are extremely happy for Priyanka and where she’s in life right now,” he said.
There were reports that her decision has left the film’s producer and Salman miffed. The CEO of Atul Agnihotri’s Reel Life Productions Nikhil Namit called Priyanka’s decision “unprofessional”.
On this, Ali said, “And whether it was the producers, Salman or me, as adults we understood her reasons and let her go.”
“There’s only happiness between us. We’re friends and will always be friends,” he said.
Priyanka Chopra was replaced by Katrina Kaif.
