Sonakshi Sinha’s rendition of Helen’s classic song ‘Mungda’ released today. The actress recreated the charming sultry number for the upcoming action comedy movie ‘Total Dhamaal’.

Helen’s memorable Lavani number is still a favourite among many Bollywood lovers. So, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the latest remake hasn’t impressed many. The Mungda makes for a fun enough watch but is not a patch on the original.

The song sung by Jyotica Tangri, Shaan and Subhro Ganguly and music by Gourov and Roshin’s doesn’t hold a torch to the original. Sonakshi dressed in glittery gold fails to invoke the same delicious seductive feel that Helen oozes in the original.

Talking about Mungda earlier to Mumbai Mirror, Sonakshi had said that she has not even tried to copy Helen. “Helen aunty’s grace and charm are unmatched and it would be foolish to even try to copy her. Our version is a dance number with spruced-up music, lots of choreography and it’s nothing like the original song.”

The song also sees Ajay Devgn, who not known for his dancing skills, shake a leg.

“Since this was a dance number, I got the chance to pull Ajay’s leg as he hates dancing but it is always a pleasure working with him,” Sonakshi said.

Total Dhamaal is third installment of successful franchise Dhamaal, which originally starred Arshad Warsi, Javed Jaffrey and Riteish Deshmukh. They have been joined by Ajay Devgn, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Anil Kapoor and Boman Irani in the present iteration.

Directed by Indra Kumar, the film is slated to release on 22nd February.
