Actress Mouni Roy, who made her Bollywood debut with Akshay Kumar’s ‘Gold’, has signed her fifth Bollywood movie.
The actress has been finalised as the female lead opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui in his brother Shamas' directorial debut, 'Bole Chudiyan'.
Sharing the news on Twitter Nawazuddin wrote, “I am really excited to work with the very beautiful and talented @roymouni Hope to spread some fragrance of romance on screen #BoleChudiyan@woodpeckermovi1 @ShamasSiddiqui @zaverikiran9 #RajeshBhatia.”
Talking about the new project, Mouni told Bombay Times, “I cannot believe my fortune that I am getting to work with Nawazuddin Siddiqui. I am anxious about sharing the frame with him. He’s immensely talented and what I feel most assured about is that this will be a fantastic learning experience. I am eager to learn from him. I just hope I can justify the team’s faith in me.”
Revealing more about her character in the film, Mouni added, “I’ve just read the script once and I am already in love with it. While I can’t reveal much, I can just say that she’s a confident girl who thinks on her feet; she can ride a tractor and dance like a dream. Actually, I am still discovering her qualities, drawing parallels and making my notes. I’m going to have more readings with the writing team and the director to get deeper insights into the role before we start shooting. The most endearing quality of my character is that she’s real and she speaks her heart. This is the first time I’ll probably play a full-on Hindi film heroine and I can’t wait to start.”
Nawaz is equally excited that his brother’s film has finally found its leading lady.
“Mouni has untapped talent. She believes in experimenting with her work, which makes me feel that she’s perfect for the character,” Nawaz said.
As per Bombay Times, Mouni will play a spunky and fiery small-town girl in 'Bole Chudiyan', which is likely to go on floors from May.
Other than this movie Mouni has many interesting movies coming up. The actress will be seen alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in action fantasy movie ‘Brahmastra’. She will also be seen in John Abraham’s thriller ‘Romeo Akbar Walter’ and Rajkummar Rao’s comedy ‘Made In China’.
Nawazuddin, on the other hand, was last seen in the biopic ‘Thackeray’ and is currently gearing up for the release of ‘Photograph’ opposite Sanya Malhotra.
