Pooja Bedi's daughter Alaia Furniturewalla is all set to make her Bollywood debut in the movie ‘Jawaani Jaaneman’. In the movie, the debutant will play the role of Saif Ali Khan’s daughter. But initially there were reports that movie would star Saif Ali Khan’s real-life daughter Sara Ali Khan.

In a recent interview with a tabloid, Saif Ali Khan finally revealed why he chose to cast Alaia over Sara in the movie.

"Alaia is perfect for the role. I would have loved to have Sara in the film, but that would have meant her choosing this project over everything else she is doing as we wanted it to be the first film of the person we would cast. Sara’s career trajectory is in a good place and in a way I’m happy it’s separate from mine at the moment," he said.

The actor also revealed that the movie is a light hearted drama.

"I'm excited about producing the film with Jay because it's a team coming together to try and create a family comedy that's relevant. Jawaani Jaaneman is a modern slice-of-life movie that people will connect to on so many levels," he said.

Meanwhile, Alaia also had something to say about her Bollywood debut and told Mumbai Mirror: "The audience will just not get to see me perform but will also get a glimpse into my real life."

Alaia Furniturewalla is Pooja Bedi's daughter with ex-husband Farhan Ebrahim Furniturewalla. Pooja Bedi and Farhan Ebrahim Furniturewalla divorced in 2003.

Mumbai Mirror reports that ‘Jaawaani Jaaneman’ will be directed by Nitin Kakkar and will be co-produced by Saif Ali Khan. The family-comedy is scheduled to go on floors in June in London.

Apart from ‘Jawaani Jaaneman’, Saif has several films in his kitty namely ‘Hunter’, ‘Bhoot Police’ and ‘Tanhaji’. Saif also has the second season of his hit web show, ‘Sacred Games’.
