Few days ago, actress Kangna Ranaut had announced that she was no longer a part of Anurag Basu’s upcoming project ‘Imli’. And now we hear that the makers are keen on casting Deepika Padukone in place of Kangana.

A report on Bollywood Hungama suggests that the actress has been approached with the script and there have been positive conversations between the director and the actress.

A source told the portal, “Kangana Ranaut had walked out of filmmaker Anurag Basu’s forthcoming movie Imli citing difference in opinion. As the two of them couldn’t reunite after Gangster and Life In A Metro, the filmmaker has now approached Deepika Padukone to play the lead role in the film. As Deepika is busy with Chhapaak, the conversations between the filmmaker and the actress have been more than positive.”

Even though reports have been rife that Kangana Ranaut walked out of the film, Anurag Basu declined it by saying that she was supposed to begin shooting for Imli last November but that couldn't be possible due to reshoots for her debut directorial film Manikarnika.

Anurag then moved on to his next project and Kangana began shooting for ‘Panga’.

Currently Anurag Basu is busy shooting for his upcoming anthology movie along the lines of his hit movie ‘Life in Metro’. The movie stars Abhishek Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanya Malhotra and Pankaj Tripathi for the movie.

Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone is currently busy shooting for ‘Chhapaak’ alongside Vikrant Massey. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the movie is slated for January 10, 2020 release.
