The first Monday of May has brought the world’s biggest costume party back in New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. The two Indian celebrities making their presence felt at 2019 MET Gala were Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone.

While Priyanka made an appearance with her husband Nick Jonas, Deepika Padukone walked in solo.

The actress opted for a dramatic Zac Posen gown. Deepika wore a pink strapless gown which had lurex jacquard and embellished with 3D-printed pieces. Her outfit resembled the embroidery for Met Gala 2019. The actress made heads turn with her perfect belle look. She wore her hair big and puffy with a pink hairband. She completed her look with large earrings and a silver bracelet. Her nude makeup look with a dark lipstick was on point.

Her look was perfect for theme of the event - ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’. The glimmering pink fabric is evocative of Barbie Doll look without being the exact replication.

This year's theme is inspired by Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay, Notes on Camp. In her essay, Susan defined ‘camp’ as: ‘The essence of Camp is its love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration.’

Deepika first appeared at the Met Ball in 2017 during the release of her first Hollywood film, ‘XXX: Return of Xander Cage’, opposite Vin Diesel.

On work front, Deepika will next be seen in Meghna's Chhapaak, where she plays the role of an acid attack survivor named Malti. The film is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Chhapaak will be extensively shot in Delhi and the film went on floors yesterday. Starring Vikrant Massey as the male lead, ‘Chhapaak’ is slated to release on January 10, 2020.
