Two weeks ago actor Hrithik Roshan took to Twitter to announce the rescheduling of his upcoming movie ‘Super 30’ to avoid clashing with Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Mental Hai Kya’ and the ‘media circus’ that would accompany the clash.
Finally, the makers have revealed the new release date for the movie.
"Arriving early! Super 30 will be releasing on July 12," read a tweet on Reliance Entertainment's official Twitter, which is co-producing the movie.
Earlier this month, Hrithik Roshan called off Super 30's July 26 release to avoid a box office collision with Kangana Ranaut's Mental Hai Kya, saying: "So as to not allow my film to be desecrated by yet another media circus, I have decided to shift the release date of film Super 30 in order to save myself from the personal trauma and toxic mental violence this would cause. Despite the film being ready, I have requested my producers to shift and announce the next suitable date as soon as possible."
It all started when producer Ekta Kapoor announced that her film ‘Mental Hai Kya’ starring Rajkummar Rao and Kangana Ranaut would release on July 26th, a date that Hrithik Roshan had already booked for his movie. This led to a lot of speculations that Kangana Ranaut was the reason behind the change. Ekta took to Twitter to clarify that the decision was solely hers and Kangana had nothing to do with it.
Later reacting to these speculations, Kangana's sister, Rangoli Chandel, went on a Twitter rant and slammed Hrithik for maligning Kangana's name. She also revealed that Ekta and Hrithik met before the filmmaker announced the changed release date.
"Kangana told Ekta Kapoor not to release MHK on 26th but Ekta said it is her prerogative as a producer to decide the release date, then she had a meeting with her childhood friend Hrithik and they both took this call," Rangoli tweeted.
Hrithik Roshan decided to maintain a silence and announced his decision to postpone the movie in a tweet, which Kangana labelled a sob story. Since then Hrithik has not posted or responded to any further provocations.
Earlier too, Hrithik had postponed 'Super 30' to avoid clash with Kangana's 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' in January. The new release of 'Super 30' is yet to be announced.
‘Mental Hai Kya’ is directed by Prakash Kovelamudi and also stars Rajkummar Rao.
On the other hand, Hrithik Roshan's ‘Super 30’ is based on the life of a mathematician Anand Kumar, who coached students from the backward sections of society to crack the elite IITs.
