The shooting of Ayushmann Khurrana’s upcoming film ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’ started yesterday.
Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the news on his Twitter handle and also the release date of the movie. The movie will release on 13th March 2020.
“#ShubhMangalZyadaSaavdhan begins... Release date finalized: 13 March 2020... Stars Ayushmann Khurrana... Directed by Hitesh Kewalya... Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Aanand L Rai,” he tweeted.
He posted a picture of the movie’s clapperboard with a colourful and vibrant Ganesha idol in the backdrop.
‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’ is a spin-off of the actor’s 2017 film ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’. Also starring Bhumi Pednekar, the superhit was directed by R.S. Prasanna and followed the life of Mudit Sharma who faces erectile dysfunction. It received universal critical acclaim and was also a commercial success at the box office.
The sequel won’t be a continuation of that story but will bring forth a bran new story and characters. In the sequel, Ayushmann Khurrana will play a gay character.
The makers of ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’ had released an animated teaser of the film on May 9. The 50-second-long teaser perfectly captures the evolution of love stories in India and how people are familiar with heterosexual relationships like Romeo-Juliet, Laila- Majnu, Mirza-Sahiba, Raj-Simran. A few moments into the teaser, we get to see love stories of gay couples which existed in the society but were never known or talked about.
The movie also stars Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao. The two had earlier shared screen space with Ayushmann in the 2018 hit movie ‘Badhaai Ho’. The duo, who played the role of the actor’s parents in ‘Badhaai Ho’.
Directed by Hitesh Kewalya, the movie is co-produced by Aanand L. Rai and Bhushan Kumar.
With the new release schedule, the movie will clash with Dharma Productions’ ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’, starring Janhvi Kapoor in the titular role.
