Actress Deepika Padukone and her husband Ranveer Singh recently wrapped up the shooting of Kabir Khan’s upcoming movie ‘83’. While Ranveer plays veteran cricketer Kapil Dev, Deepika Padukone will play his wife Romi Dev.

According to a report in Mid-Day, Deepika Padukone has apparently impressed Romi Dev with her performance in the movie. 

“When Romi saw Deepika on the set, she remarked that she was looking at a mirror image of herself, from 20 years ago. There is a striking similarity. Kabir and Ranveer had met the Devs at their Delhi home for 10 days before the London schedule, so the director had the opportunity to discuss the inputs with Deepika before they began the shoot,” said film’s producer Vishnu Induri.

A source also told the tabloid when the makers place to reveal Deepika's look from the film.

“When Deepika was shooting for her portions in London in July, Kapil Dev and wife Romi had casually dropped in once on the sets. While Romi had met the actor several times before, this was the first time she was seeing her sport her on-screen avatar. Romi was surprised by her transformation. In the film, Dippy sports a shorter hairdo, but has not resorted to using prosthetics. The makers plan to reveal her look as part of the run-up to the teaser’s release. During their meetings, Dippy would carefully study her behaviour and has brought these traits alive in front of the camera,” said the source.

Deepika earlier revealed to Bombay Times she wished to meet Romi before they started shooting for the film. The actress had met her a few times including her reception with Ranveer, she also said their family knew each other for years. With the material provided by Kabir Khan's team and the time she spent with Romi, Deepika hoped to bring a film everyone is proud of.

Directed by Kabir Khan, ‘83’ will tell the story of India’s historic world cup win against West Indies. The movie will focus on the story of India’s then captain Kapil Dev. 

Other than Ranveer Singh the movie also stars Saqib Saleem, Adinath Kothare, Chirag Patil, Harddy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Jatin Sarna, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Dinker Sharma, Jiiva, Sahil Khattar, Dhairya Karwa, Nishant Dahhiya and R Badree.

Presented by Reliance Entertainment, '83 will release on April 10, 2020 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
